Six seniors and six scorers, men’s water polo concludes regular season play

Senior day brought a devastating loss for San Jose State’s men’s water polo team. The Spartans were defeated by the No. 4 Pacific Tigers 13-8.

This marks the fifth consecutive loss for the Spartans and they conclude their regular season with just one conference win.

SJSU had a total of six scorers with junior Justin Pickering and sophomore Adam Bado putting up two goals.

The Tigers put up the first goal of the match and would only be able to sink two into the net by the end of the first period. They were just warming up as the Tigers then went on to score five goals in the second.

The Spartans failed to make a big splash in the first half as Bado’s goal would be the only point for the team going into halftime.

With Pacific leading by five, SJSU came into the second half ready to score. The first goal in the third was by senior Ashley Castle and it became a game of back and forth after that.

By the fourth period both teams were strong offensively with each of them putting up four goals.

The Tigers five unanswered goals in the second period set them up for success, and it was too much for the Spartans to catch up.

Seniors Finn Pardon and Marc Weber put up goals in the second half for their last game at the SRAC.

Sophomore goalie Yahav Fire had a total of 13 saves, which is phenomenal, but Pacific was just too strong.

Six seniors were recognized on the pool deck for their last regular season match.

Up next is the Golden Coast Conference tournament in Malibu, Calif. The tournament starts on Friday.
