San Jose State softball (37-15, 17-6 MW) won the second game in its final conference series against the University of Nevada (26-25, 10-13 MW), 3-0.

Senior Madison Aurin lead the Spartans with a home run and pitched a complete-game shutout.

Both teams were scoreless until the bottom of the third. Senior Kristen Heffley hit a single to left field and was brought home on Aurin’s home run to make it 2-0.

“I wanted to make an adjustment to my first at bat, it was high pitch and I popped it to the catcher,” Aurin said. “I knew that it was going to be like that again, so I made the adjustment and got on top.”

The Spartans had opportunities to execute in both the bottom of the fourth and sixth innings, but could not drive anyone in.

“We need to hit timely hits,” head coach Peter Turner. “We had bases loaded twice and didn’t get anything out of it. Beesides that, we’re playing well.”

On the team’s third attempt with bases loaded, sophomore Jacey Phipps walked and cashed in her first RBI of the day.

The Wolf Pack had a runner on base in the seventh, but couldn’t drive them home.

SJSU looks to sweep its final series of the season Sunday at 12 p.m.
