Pac-12 invite next on sight for swimming and diving

By Felix Petersson (@_felixpetersson):

Six women from SJSU’s swimming and diving team will go to Seattle to compete in the Pac-12 Invitational in Federal Way, Wash. this Sunday.

The Spartans are going into the competitions with extra motivation, especially considering they recently broke program records in the Mountain West championships, but still finished last in the competition.

In the 200 medley relay, senior Colleen Humel, freshman Shona Spikes, junior Brenna Bushey and senior Brittany Heng set new school records with the time 1:38.86, leading to a third place finish of 10.

The old record was set in 2012 at 1:39.38.

The same weekend, Humel set a new school record at both 50 and 100 backstrokes and Bushey did the same in 100 butterfly.

Humel, Bushey, Heng and Spikes all were named to the Mountain West all-conference team.

Let’s see if the Spartans can keep their form and swim even faster in Seattle on Sunday.
