Spartans begin four-game road trip in Ohio

By Carlos Jimenez (@carlosjimmenezz):

Following a win over Idaho State, the San Jose State men’s basketball team (2-3) travels to Ohio to face Bowling Green (5-2) to kickoff a four-game road trip.

The Spartans continued to be dominant on the glass this season, outrebounding the Bengals 44-30.

Rebounding has been a strength as the Spartans boast a 10.8 per game rebound advantage through five games.

Sophomore guard Isaiah Nichols scored a career-high 14 points and his backcourt mate, junior guard Jaycee Hillsman scored 15 points to lead the Spartans in scoring.

Turnovers continue to be an issue for the Spartans, who are averaging 16.6 turnovers a game.

They gave away the ball 20 times in their match against the Bengals.

Bowling Green on the other hand has averaged only 11.6 turnovers a game, and boasts a 7.1 points-off-turnovers advantage on the season.

Hillsman and Nichols along with the rest of the back court will be tested defensively as the Falcons top three scorers are guards averaging over 14 points a game.

Defensively, the Spartans will need to keep the Falcons off of the three-point line, where they own a significant advantage (200-23) over the Spartans.

Bowling Green will host the Spartans on Nov. 29th in a matchup that has favored the Spartans

2-0 all time. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. PT.
