The women’s volleyball team is finally coming home after spending the last two weeks on the road. Taking on University Nevada, Las Vegas on Thursday and University of New Mexico on Saturday, SJSU is looking to extend its current three-game winning streak.

This is the third week of conference play for the Spartans (11-4), who are currently 3-1 after defeating both San Diego State and Fresno State last weekend.

It was a big weekend for SJSU senior setter Breann Robinson and senior middle blocker Nandyala Gama, who each broke records. Robinson became one of 12 Spartans to reach 2,000 assists after a 91-assist weekend. Gama had a career-best of 21 kills against Fresno on Saturday and is 46 kills away from becoming the 14 Spartan with 1,000 career kills.

To finish off a big weekend for the Spartans, junior libero Luiza Andrade was named the “Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week” on Monday after her fourth game with more than 20 digs for the season. Andrade is currently leading SJSU in digs with 257 and is averaging 4.28 per set.

The UNLV Rebels are 4-13 this season and 0-4 in conference play heading into the weekend in last place in the Mountain West Conference standings.

UNM (10-6, 2-2 MWC) is in fifth place in Mountain West, just two places below SJSU, which is currently in third.  The Lobos are coming off a win against Utah State

Both games will be in the Spartan Gym this weekend, with Thursday’s game starting at 6 p.m. and Saturday’s at 12 p.m.
