San Jose State to announce new Athletic Director, who looks more familiar than you might think

By Kavin Mistry:

San Jose State did not have to look too far to decide who was going to take over the position of Athletic Director.

Interim AD Marie Tuite is expected to be promoted to full-time role this afternoon in a press conference on campus.

The promotion is not confirmed, but is rumored to be San Jose State’s selection to take over the duties.

This move should come as no surprise to Spartan fans as Tuite has served as interim director in the past and has been involved in some major changes to SJSU athletics.

In 2012, Tuite helped SJSU move from the Western Athletic Conference to the Mountain West Conference, a move she said recently was difficult to maneuver, but rewarding nonetheless.

Tuite has been at SJSU since 2010 and is currently serving her second stint as the interim director.

The press conference is set for 3 p.m. today in the Student Union on campus, where president Mary Papazian will make her announcement.
